A Chronicle of Confusion and Pain
This week, when thinking ahead about the kinds of things we’d need to create for assignments to contribute to the project, I couldn’t keep my mind off of the design aspect. Design has my heart and has for quite a while, but I often don’t find opportunities to use my skills to make something really cool. Once we started crafting our story “Coroner’s Tale,” I had a feeling in my gut that designing the poster for it would be an awesome experience.

The story is a bit dark and ominous, lending itself amazingly to a background picture that gives off the same effect. Because the tale involves both aliens and humans, sometimes both at once (listen to the story in a couple weeks to understand what I mean), I wanted to incorporate an image that somehow reflected the idea of both beings. This photo, found using Unsplash, took a bit of searching to find but ultimately had all of the elements I was looking for. After finding that, it was really just a matter of finding the appropriate font with a splash of some subtle color that wouldn’t be too distracting. Settling on this yellow came pretty easily, and the font practically fell into my lap. I loved the idea of a subtitle of some sort that gives slight insight into the production, so that’s when “A chronicle of confusion and pain” was born.
I didn’t struggle at all with this assignment. In fact, this may be one of the best designs I’ve ever made and I’m extremely proud of it. Even if the process had been more difficult but I were to end up with this result, it would have been well worth it. Regardless, I’m pleased that it wasn’t too difficult to create.
